The Edwalton Manor Care Home is an upscale care home that provides residential, dementia and nursing care within a luxury environment.
This luxury development required a high-level specification with a 25 year warranty. The roofs were required to be aesthetically similar to the metal standing seam roofs used on the surrounding commercial units.
Protan were able to provide a solution using Single Ply membranes with an end product which successfully achieved it's aims.
This project highlights how Single Ply Protan SE membranes in combination with Protan Omega profiles can be combined with fascia systems to give a great overall result.
We overcame challenges of design changes particularly to the terrace areas.
We were able to draw on the expertise of our Partner Suppliers to overcome these issues. An example would be a late change to VIP insulation to overcome an issue of limited height on the rear terrace.
The working site was relatively small so we had to work very closely with the Roofing Contractor NRA to ensure timely deliveries and quick resolutions to any supply issues. The close working relationships established during the completion of this project has led to Protan securing further similar projects.

Protan’s roofing solutions can be used on all types of substrates, whether new-builds or refurbishment projects. The roof coverings are quickly installed, and all joints are welded with hot air.
Green roofs are becoming more and more popular, especially in densely populated urban areas, where it’s important to use available roof space. Green areas and roof terraces increase value both for property developers and those who live in or use the buildings.
Extreme weather is the new normal. This is why Protan has developed a blue roof solution that reduces the risk of flood damage.
Protan has solid and durable systems that protect verandah and balcony floors against moisture, mould, rot and corrosion.
