The Protan Standard Overlap System with mechanical fastening can be installed on all types of substrate, and used on both new build and renovation projects.
The Protan Standard Overlap system is a mechanically fixed roof system typically installed on profiled metal or wood-based panel structural roof decks.
A Protan-approved polyethylene vapour control layer is loose-laid over the structural roof deck, followed by Protan approved insulation and Protan SE PVC single-ply membrane.
The insulation and Protan membrane are mechanically fixed to the structural roof deck by fasteners and telescopic tube washers, the density of which is determined by a wind load calculation completed by Protan’s Technical Services Department.
The rolls of Protan membrane overlap each other by a minimum of 120mm and are welded together using hot air to create a homogenous waterproof seal. As no adhesives or solvents are used, all materials and components of the system are fully-recyclable.
The Protan Standard Overlap system is installed by mechanically fixing the membrane to the substrate along its long edge, which is overlapped by the adjacent roll of membrane. Mechanical fixing and hot-air welding together the rolls of membrane along the overlap guarantees a homogenous seam, which is of greater strength than the membrane itself.
Protan SE membrane can be supplied in widths of 1.00m and 2.00m. The installation of 2.00m-wide rolls in the roof’s field zone provides significant labour and time savings for the roofing contractor.
