Protan UK was established in 1996. At that time, Protan's roofing division had been in business since the early 1970's.
Protan entered the Norwegian roofing market 50 years ago, when it started licensing Sarnafil roofing membranes from the Swiss company with the same name. In the 1990's Protan turned to manufacturing and selling under it's own name.
Around the same time, Protan decided to sell their products and solution in all of Europe, not only in the Nordic market, which in turn lead to the founding of Protan (UK) Ltd.
Protan UK headquarters is located in Warrington, Cheshire, and sells its roofing systems and solutions via a nationwide network of approved roofing contractors.

Based in Norway, the Protan industrial group is a world leader in membrane technology.
Protan develop and produce membranes, roofing, ventilation systems and technical textiles. With more than 900 employees, 150 of whom are based at our head office in Drammen, the turnover in 2022 was in the excess of 209 million GBP.
Protan's largest business area is roofing and membranes, this includes both manufacturing of roofing materials and the Scandinavian roof contracting business.
We also specialise in custom-made ventilation systems for mines and tunnels. In addition, we produce warehouse and industrial halls in PVC, flood protection equipment, aquaculture solutions, oil bags, oil booms and more. These products are exported all over the world.
